Better reeds? Yes, please!

August 24, 2025 at 3:00pm in Carmel

Stop fighting with your reeds and make them work for you! In this session, we’ll learn how to:

  • properly break in reeds

  • adjust and balance them for best performance

  • identify the reasons they aren’t working and what to do about it

$15 session fee includes a supply kit to take home with you! You will need to bring 2-3 new, unopened reeds to the session. Optional: Bring a stubborn reed AND your instrument, and we’ll adjust that difficult reed during the session.

This session will last approximately 1 hour, but may run over depending on questions from attendees.

Meet Katherine

A teaching musician for over 20 years, Katherine Peters helps students, teachers, and fellow musicians learn, teach, and play better. She excels at packaging concepts into practical, applicable, useful strategies that can be delivered one-on-one in the studio or to a lecture hall full of musicians. The underlying message in her teaching: you can do this. Katherine is also a published composer/arranger. Her arrangements have been performed by middle and high school students, community ensembles, and church ensembles.


Katherine, her husband Matthew, and their daughter live in central Indiana. They sponsor a beautiful little girl in Nicaragua through Compassion International. Find out about Compassion here, and please consider releasing a child from the financial and emotional bondage of poverty.
